Set the removal and support scope
The deck and existing roof layers determine the removal, insulation and attachment design. Broad underlying problems may rule out a simple recover.
Heat-welded seams connect the TPO sheets, while compatible flashing closes the transitions around curbs, pipes, walls and edges. An open seam or damaged detail needs system-specific repair; a general sealant applied across the surface is not the same connection.
The membrane can look continuous while water has spread below it. Insulation condition, attachment and deck soundness matter when deciding how far the work extends. The visible hole does not measure every affected layer.

The existing membrane and surrounding roof determine whether a contained repair is useful.
The membrane, repair material and condition need to be suitable for the selected welding and flashing method. Dirt, weathering and prior repairs affect preparation.
Seams, curb corners and penetration details need their proper transitions renewed. Work must connect to sound surrounding membrane and address the original entry point.
A surface repair cannot dry saturated insulation trapped beneath it. The affected assembly needs evaluation and removal where required before the connection is closed.
The new membrane is part of a complete commercial roof system.
The deck and existing roof layers determine the removal, insulation and attachment design. Broad underlying problems may rule out a simple recover.
Curbs, units, drains, overflows and air intakes affect layout and sequencing. Separate trade work needs a clear place in the plan.
Insulation, attachment, seams and flashings follow the selected manufacturer’s system. Product terms depend on the actual assembly and requirements.
Color does not establish compatibility. The existing membrane and repair system need to be identified and prepared for the correct connection.
Wet or unsound underlying material needs evaluation as part of the scope. Covering it over can leave the building with the same hidden problem.
